The International Code Council (ICC) was appointed in March 2021 by the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Capital Development Authority) or RAJUK under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works of the Government of Bangladesh to undertake Consultancy Services for Professional Accreditation Program (PAP) in RAJUK, Component S-8A of the Urban Resilience Project (URP): RAJUK Part. The S-8A component includes four inter-connected phases, with each phase having dedicated outcomes and deliverables. The Demand Analysis Report documents the potential supply and demand for registered structural engineers and the existing PEng registration program within the industry, the motivational incentives and barriers perceived by employers and engineering professionals, and the successes and shortcomings of the current engineering registration programs available in Bangladesh. As mentioned, there are four phases within the S-8A project:
• Phase 1: Preparatory Work
• Phase 2: Developing a PAP for Structural Engineers (SEs)
• Phase 3: Design of a Pilot Testing Framework
• Phase 4: Roll Out and Sustainability
The Demand Analysis Report is a deliverable from Phase 1 of this project.
